Director Izumi Ashizawa fuses mask work and puppetry in an avant-garde interpretation of this 4,000 year old Mesopotamian epic of love, death, and the quest for immortality. The recipient of numerous international awards, Ashizawa brings an intense blend of ancient and modern Japanese theatrical movement to this oldest of human stories. Gilgamesh will perform in Theatre II Apr. 2-4 and 7-10 at 8pm, and April 5 and 11 at 3pm. A post-performance discussion with the director and actors
will be held on April 3. For information contact the CoTA box office at 813-974-2323 or online at www.arts.usf.edu.
